Real Sociedad 1-0 Valencia : Griezmann gives Aranburu perfect send off

Antoine Greizmann’s second-half strike gave Real Sociedad a final day 1-0 win over Valencia on Saturday night. With both sides having little to play for, the game started in a friendly fashion and the first half featured very few chances.

Aritz Aduriz and Pablo Hernandez both missed chances for the visitors, whilse Xabi Prieto and Mikel Aranburu had chances for the home side.

Aranburu was playing his last game for the hosts after 15 years with the club and he was given the perfect send off when Frenchman Antoine Griezmann struck in the second half to make it 1-0 and seal a 12th-placed finish for the Basques, their best in the top flight since coming second in 2003.

Valencia searched for an equaliser but to avail and outgoing coach Unai Emery was forced to end with a defeat, however Los Che were already assured of a third consecutive third place.
