Arsenal weighing up move for French starlet

According to reports, Arsenal are considering a late January move for Real Sociedad starlet, Antoine Griezmann, after being denied access to several of their more prominent targets. The 20 year-old has impressed magnificently in recent seasons, making around 40 appearances for the Spanish side in both of the previous two seasons.

Griezmann has featured for Sociedad on 21 occasions this campaign bringing his tally to 100 appearances, scoring 17 goals and making eight assists in the process.
The youngster is also a French Under-21 international and has played for the side four times.
Arsene Wenger’s side has been linked with moves for numerous wide talents despite the summer acquisitions of Gervinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The wingers have performed well in their respective roles this campaign but with news emerging that Theo Walcott is being chased by a number of European clubs, cover may be required should the England international exit the Emirates Stadium this year.
Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda are just two widemen being mentioned with a switch to the Gunners with Adam Johnson’s name also popping up.
Griezmann’s signature would be expected to cost Arsenal around £12m and despite the club’s reluctance to buy so far this window, the capture of another youngster in need of sculpting may tempt Arsene Wenger.
French coaches didn’t notice Griezmann’s ability until later on in his teens and the starlet will be hoping that a winter move to the Premier League may provide the opportunities necessary to earn him a place in France’s Euro 2012 squad.
