The French U21 international has been in superb form this season, continuing his breakthrough season in 2011/2012 and his performance against Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby only furthered his reputation.
To be frank, not much was made of the Basque derby, given that it features two of the biggest teams in the region, but maybe that had something to do with Athletic Bilbao’s off-field problems that have seen them turn from ‘nearly men’ to ‘no-where near men’ in the space of six months.
Needless to say, Sociedad were better all over the field during Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off with Griezmann proving to be a menace throughout.
His goal was his first of the new season but it was an important one that set Phillipe Montanier’s side on their way to three very important points.
